Chief Minister of Punjab refused to accept police resignation on court orders
The Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has refused to accept the resignation of an IPS officer. The High Court reportedly canceled the probe led by him in two cases of police firing.
Inspector General Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh led the Punjab Police Special Investigation Team. They investigated the 2015 police action in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan in the Faridkot district. The people who protested alleged the discretion of Guru Granth Sahib teachers. Two people were killed.
The officer had filed for premature retirement after the High Court canceled the investigation. But, a copy of the court order has not come out.

The court on Friday also asked the state government to rearrange SIT without Mr. Singh.
The Chief Minister has rejected the retirement petition for the officer, said a government statement.
By the way, The Chief Minister said Mr. Singh was a very competent and efficient officer. His services were in need in a border state. At that time faced a variety of “internal and external security threats”.
